Malcolm Hobbs
Malcolm Hobbs is the Principal of Momentum Strategy Consulting, a firm that he established in 2004. The firm provides interim executive leadership and project level support in Marketing and Business Development. He has assisted organizations in venture capital fundraising, product and go-to-market strategy, messaging, positioning, lead generation, corporate communications, and M & A activities. Since launching his firm, he has worked extensively with start-up and early stage companies, as well as larger more established organizations.
In his consulting practice, Mr. Hobbs has served as Interim Vice President of Marketing/Business Development in companies primarily focused on delivering products through the SaaS business model. He has developed significant insights into the unique challenges and opportunities presented to companies implementing SaaS models. From health care to higher education, to sports marketing, micro-payments, personal physical asset management and data storage, Mr. Hobbs understands the unique challenges of the model. He is able to provide guidance to the executive staff as well as assess, plan, develop and implement successful marketing and business development strategies for SaaS-based companies or those seeking to migrate some or all of their business to a SaaS-based model.
Prior to founding Momentum Strategy, Mr. Hobbs gained broad experience leading marketing and business development in enterprise software organizations serving as Vice President of Marketing at publicly traded Saba ($45 million/year turnover) and Senior Vice President of Marketing at publicly traded Docent ($25 million turnover). Previous roles include Senior Vice President of Marketing at publicly traded Business Intelligence vendor Sagent Technology ($40 million turnover); Vice President, Corporate Communications at Oracle Corporation; and more consumer focused roles in senior product marketing, product management, and business development positions at Apple Computer, Inc.
Mr. Hobbs holds a BA in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA, and is a dual citizen of the United States and Great Britain.
